Movie Review: Killers

Killers

Rating: Didn’t Suck

If you liked True Lies (Arnold Schwan;fsldfjgvnalf-egger) then chances are you won’t like this movie, or at minimum you won’t like it anywhere near as much. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a “date movie” I think this one may be your best bet. It’s good neutral ground, slightly humorous, slightly romantic, relatively action packed. As an overall movie, it’s pretty lame, but the timing of its release is pretty spot on. Get him to the Greek is too goofy, Karate Kid too “young”, sex and the city 2 etc. etc. etc. It’s basically the only movie for people looking for a date flick.

What you’ll like:

-Enough action to counterbalance the cheesy romance
-Enough cheesy romance to counter the action
-Quirky characters
-Some storybook love (though you could love or hate that depending)

What you may not like:

-The beginning drags, it takes a while for the story to pull together, maybe halfway through the movie
-The characters are very archetypal, Kutcher is there to statistically draw in female customers, Heigl draws in males, etc. Cut out Kutcher, insert favorite male actor and the movie is the same, where as anyone else playing Arnold Schwarzenegger’s role in True Lies would have changed the movie completely.

I don’t know, the whole movie just kind fizzles and never pops, but again, I think where it will serve you guys well is if you’re looking for that neutral “date movie” when neither of you can agree on what to see, you’ll both dislike it equally and amidst it all you may get some laughs and a few thrills.

I’d say stick to matinee pricing, possibly dirt mall discount theater, worth renting, probably not worth owning.

Let me know what you thought,
