MOVIE REVIEW: The Last Airbender

The Last Airbender

Rating: Didn’t Suck

You’ll definitely enjoy this movie more if you’ve seen the cartoon. Most people however thought it was kind of lame, and “dry” as far as the quality and pace of the movie. Probably not worth the cash unless you’re already a fan of the cartoon. This movie is basically Book 1 and 2 I believe. Obviously the movie is geared towards a younger crowd, but I think they missed the mark when it came time to keep the parents interested as well, who’s taking the tykes to the movies? Right, the parents, or other adult type people, so it’s important to keep things entertaining on multiple levels.

What you’ll like:

-Pretty good special effects
-Not terrible story, plot, acting

What you may not like:

-Lame swishy movements for using their elemental powers that don’t even make sense
-Bad acting (though, kids probably won’t notice)
-They explain the story in text on the screen to get you up to speed… then they show you exactly what they just said, so you basically wasted all that time reading and listening to the guy read it to you, because they explain it anyway, very redundant.
-Very rushed story, almost like watching two small children playing a game where they constantly make up new rules

Anyway, that basically sums it up, if you’re a fan of the cartoon, you’ll think it was Pretty Good, if not, probably not worth the cash.

Let me know what you thought
